See Luke our GM's post below:>>>We come from:Different backgrounds.Different cultures.Different languages.Different experiences of life.And yet, we’re expected to work together, understand each other and get things done.I think that’s one of the reasons teambuilding is so important in South Africa.When you work with different people, it’s easy to make assumptions. It’s easy to stick with the people you understand or have more in common with.But when you take the time to understand each other, you build trust. And once you have trust, a team can really start to work well together.I see this in the teams we work with at BEYOND, and I’ve also carried this into my own leadership.I was brought up with a strong sense of the importance of relationships, respect and community. I still believe people do their best work when they feel seen, heard and valued.South Africans are resilient. Being part of a choir has taught me more about teamwork than any training I have ever done.When you sing in a choir, you cannot just show up and do your own thing.You listen. You adjust. You quickly learn that you cannot do it on your own. And the most powerful sound in the room is never one voice. It is many different voices, finding harmony together.I think about that a lot in my work.Because that is what great team building is about.Creating the conditions for people actually to hear each other. To find their harmony. To discover that their differences are not a problem to manage but that they are the whole point.And in South Africa, I think we understand this better than most.We are a country of diversity. Different cultures, languages, backgrounds and life experiences, all sharing the same space.And perhaps that is why Ubuntu resonates so deeply.I am because we are.I see it every time I stand in that choir and watch a room full of completely different people create something none of us could create alone.That, to me, is the South Africa I believe in.Different voices. See our Sales Maverick: KB's post: >>>Someone asked me recently to describe what it means to be proudly South African in three words.My first answer was a joke.No DNA. Just RSA.But the more I sat with it, the more I realised that it actually isn't a joke at all.I grew up in a family that taught me one thing above everything else: don't dwell on what can't be changed. Take the lesson. Keep moving forward.I didn't realise it then, but it's a value I see all around me in South Africa.I see it in the TEAMS we work with too. I especially see it in the teams that come to us because something isn't working. They don't want to dwell on it. They want to figure it out, learn from it and get better.When the pressure is on, when things don't go to plan, when the environment changes, there is a remarkable ability to adapt, regroup and keep going.I've seen it in BUSINESS too.In our industry, the market never stands still. New competitors. New challenges. Years that test everything we have built.BEYOND has weathered those storms more times than I can count.We've found a way through every time because stopping was never really an option.That resilience is something we've learned, lived and passed on.It's part of who we are.Maybe that's what being proudly South African means to me.It's not in our DNA.It's in how we respond.No DNA.
